La Paz Group founder Crist Inman worked on this first sustainable tourism development project outside Central America with CLACDS and Darwin Foundation colleagues to craft a sustainable tourism development model for the robust, but fragile, Galápagos Islands’ ecosystem. The Galápagos Islands provide a special challenge because they exist as an autonomous zone from the rest of the Republic of Ecuador. However, because of its natural resources, it must adhere to the Republic’s laws. This project required mediation between the Galápagos communities, the Ecuadorian Government, and organizations protecting the Islands as World Heritage.
